Victorian jewellery was made in the United Kingdom during the reign of Queen Victoria. The early Victorians were sentimental folk and this was reflected in their jewellery: light, simple, feminine and delicate pieces with an emphasis on filigree gold. After Prince Albert’s death, not only Queen Victoria but also the whole country went into mourning and this was reflected in the change to a heavier, more sombre type jewellery.
